Steamer Compradores are hereby warned, that the
Chinese Customs have informed the Company, that in
future, if any smuggled goods are found on board
steamers, the Chinese concerned may have to be arrested
and handed over to the Chinese Authorities for trial.
Steamer compradores must understand that any
punishment inflicted by the Chinese Authorities upon
themselves or members of their staff will be in addition
to any fine levied by the Customs upon the steamer, which
the Company will collect from steamer compradores as
formerly, and any measures which the China Navigation
Company may consider it necessary to take in prevent ion
or punishment of such offences.
